While the Academy concept is relatively new, Hibernian has been producing talented footballers since its birth over 140 years ago. This was done through working closely with local amateur and juvenile clubs both in taking in “apprentice” footballers and ”toughening” up players ready for the first team. Hibernian Football Club was the “finishing school”.

Now, as football reflects the changes in society and the myriad leisure pursuits available to kids, Hibernian Football Club has to be pre-school, primary school and high school all in one, offering a complete education for the footballer so as to produce the players who have the necessary skills – technical, tactical, physical and mental – required to compete at the highest level in the modern game.
